I started with a referral and the first step was a take-home assignment where I had to test a specific area of Hotstar using Selenium and JavaScript, and I passed.

The next day I went into a 1:1 at the office with an SDET, and the conversation felt positive and genuinely interesting—automation strategies came up, along with manual testing, deployment, and programming skills.

That’s why the second 1:1 surprised me. The other interview with a QA from Bangalore turned negative fast. Even though it was described as a coding round, it ended up being a long stretch of mostly verbal questions where the interviewer kept probing how I handled practical problems like testing and monitoring live streams, testing A/B and new features, and report tracking.
