I interviewed at the NSBE conference, and I remember being surprised because it didn’t feel technical at all.

The questions were centered on personal stories and reflection—things like identifying a challenge I’d overcome—rather than coding or engineering problem solving.

It was a quick, casual format, and the vibe was more about how I thought and how I handled growth than about what I could build on the spot. I didn’t feel like there was any hidden difficulty; the conversation stayed accessible the whole way.

I didn’t get an offer, but it was still a straightforward way to present myself and explain my perspective on overcoming problems.
