I went through a Dell process that became very difficult late in the timeline, largely due to an extra round tied to salary and role alignment.

Multiple coding/technical rounds + manager — I completed several technical rounds (including one manager round) and one additional hourly discussion step.
Compensation-driven extra technical round — after salary negotiations, they added another technical round, and I was rejected after that.
Extra OS internals focus — the extra questions were tough and heavily OS-internals oriented, even though it wasn’t aligned with the job description. Outcome: I didn’t get an offer, and my takeaway is to be prepared for scope surprises when the process changes late.
