I interviewed for a Dell Engineering Manager role and the process felt long and ranking-driven, spanning multiple interviews over a few stages.

Hiring manager round — A long, ~2.5 hour conversation with STAR-style questions.
Pair hiring manager round — About an hour focused on a mix of technical assessment and follow-up discussion.
Director round: system design — A system design-focused conversation about how I’d approach building solutions.
HR round — Final coordination, with decisions ultimately based on stack ranking.

Outcome: No offer; the takeaway was that time and careful ranking matter, and being crisp in STAR storytelling plus system design depth is critical.
