Deliveroo Frontend Engineer interview experience

The session started normally, but it shifted into a detail-level issue: they had a strong preference around using a particular approach, and they took issue with me using axios instead of fetch.

I didn’t feel it was a major technical mismatch since the change would have been straightforward, but the way it was handled made it feel bigger than it should have been in the context of the task. The rest of the process didn’t culminate in an offer, and what stayed with me was how a small tooling choice became the thing that mattered most.
