I applied online with my resume and cover letter, and after a short wait I was contacted by a recruiter.

The first conversation was a phone interview that lasted about 30 minutes. It felt pretty straightforward: the recruiter walked me through what the company does and what the role would involve, then asked me a handful of questions about my background.

What stood out was how conversational it was. I was given time to clarify anything I was curious about, and the recruiter made sure I understood the job before moving on. The round itself didn’t feel like a grilling or a deep technical test—more like an introduction and a reality check on fit. Ultimately, this stage didn’t turn into an offer
