I applied for a staff engineer role and got rejected the next day.

It was so fast that it didn’t feel like a human review of my fit for the position, and my guess was that the rejection was automated.

There wasn’t any real interview journey to speak of—just a quick decision that seemed to suggest they had already filled the role. It left me with very little clarity about why I wasn’t selected, other than the process moving on immediately.

Overall, the experience was basically a cutoff with no feedback, and that made it feel unusually abrupt.
