I applied for an internship role and got pulled into a proctored online assessment on CodeSignal.

The test had four questions to complete within 90 minutes. Algorithmically it didn’t feel crazy hard, but the problems were full of tricky edge cases—index handling and corner scenarios mattered a lot.

I managed to score perfectly on the assessment, 600 out of 600, which gave me a lot of confidence. I still didn’t get an interview afterward, and roughly a month later I received a rejection. What stuck with me was how strong the assessment score was but how quickly the process moved to a “no,” which felt disproportionate to the outcome.
