The first technical step was a phone screen that was more about software architecture than pure coding.

It had a structured feel with a main loop that included four rounds: coding, architecture, system programming, and behavioral.

The technical questions were described as domain-specific, and the experience matched that tone—either I knew the area they were probing, or I struggled to make progress. What threw me off wasn’t the technical bar as much as the communication afterward: the recruiter ghosted for about two weeks before replying only when I followed up. In the end, I didn’t move forward, and the lack of responsiveness made the whole process feel more frustrating than it needed to be.
