I went into a coding/DSA-style interview and it immediately caught me off guard because it relied on a specific C time-library feature.

I wasn’t familiar with using that library, and I got stuck trying to figure out the syntax instead of focusing on solving the algorithm problem.

The question itself wasn’t described as wildly complex, but my unfamiliarity with the tooling derailed me. I didn’t make it to the next stage, and what I remember most was that it felt like the interview expected knowledge of a particular language/library detail that wasn’t front and center for me beforehand.
