After a recruiter outreach, my path went through an interview with a staff engineer where I was given a programming exercise focused on process and order of execution.

I thought it went well, so I was invited to an on-site—but for a different position than originally discussed. I hesitated about the change, and then they told me to show up anyway and they’d finalize based on feedback.

On the ground, the on-site lasted about four hours and included questions about existing products, whiteboarding, and at least some algorithm work. Some of it felt repetitive, and the questions weren’t very surprising, just steady. The frustrating part came later: there was no update for about a week, and after a follow-up I received an email saying I wasn’t being considered.
