My interviews followed a more traditional cadence: a recruiter reach-out, then a phone interview, and after that an in-person visit.

On the phone call, I talked through my school projects and got asked a few technical questions. Afterward, I went to the Tampa location for the onsite.

On site, the focus felt split between how I worked with others and what technologies I’d actually used, along with what kind of work I enjoyed. I also had simple coding problems on the whiteboard, and the day included a tour of a really nice office where everyone seemed pleasant and welcoming.

Even though the conversations went well, I didn’t get an offer. In one stretch of time, circumstances got in the way—there was a hiring freeze shortly
