My debugging round wasn’t just about finding a logic bug—it included things like stack overflow, memory corruption, and other problems that could break the program in the middle of execution. I could tell they were looking for someone who could reason about how the failure was happening, not just patch symptoms.

After I finished that stage, I had phone and onsite interviews where the questions stayed rooted in C++ and data-structure thinking, but the overall tone carried over from the debugging round: precision mattered. I remember that the later interviews didn’t feel like the hardest part;
