Coinbase Software Engineer interview experience

Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I planned for a Coinbase backend-oriented onsite that sounded intensive and heavily interview-practical, often involving pair programming.

Virtual/onsite pair programming (1+ rounds) — I was told to expect pair programming sessions focused on practical/react-oriented work.
System design (explicitly mentioned for onsite) — I also heard that system design would be part of the onsite experience.
Additional onsite technical rounds (implied by onsite structure) — I was preparing for multiple technical conversations across the day. Outcome: No offer outcome was recorded, but my takeaway was clear: I needed strong practical pair programming skills and at least solid system design preparation for the onsite.
