San Francisco, CAPosted Mar 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I hit a late-stage technical bar at Coinbase that included system-level thinking and, in one case, a take-home style distributed-systems implementation.

Recruiter screen (implied in broader flow) — alignment on role and background.
System design — one path involved one system design round with follow-up expectations and implementation-under-the-hood reasoning.
Take-home programming task — another journey used a 45-minute take-home to build a simplified distributed file system.
Outcome: No offer—when the work reached system/distributed scope, I either didn’t finish enough or couldn’t clear the final bar.
