I set up a phone screen through email, and the HR contact joined the call after I made time at work.

The conversation felt almost like they hadn’t prepared beyond the application—she went through the same visa status and work-eligibility section that I had already filled out, then asked me to walk through every job experience and the dates.

What threw me off was how repetitive it felt: after getting asked why I wanted to leave my current role, the call basically continued as me dictating my resume back to them. It was low effort and I was frustrated enough to cut it short. After that, the whole process didn’t feel worth continuing, and I moved on.
