My first step was a coding task that immediately tested whether I could think in concurrent terms.

I was asked to write a multi-threaded program that emulated an ordering and delivery system. It wasn’t just a simple algorithm: I had to implement functions for order receiving, order preparing, courier dispatching, order pickup, and order delivery.

The task also required simulating realistic timing ranges, like orders taking a span such as 3–15 seconds to prepare and couriers taking something like 15–45 seconds to arrive. I also had to print each action along the way—things like preparing an order, dispatching couriers, and picking up the order.

Overall, the challenge felt straightforward
