I was given a HackerRank exam that was genuinely difficult.

The questions felt like LeetCode hard level—trees, double heaps, and even a stack-tracking problem about bar widths.

The overall vibe was that prep for this kind of challenge mattered. I found myself needing familiarity with the hard patterns, not just the mid-level stuff. Even when I could recognize the topic areas, executing correctly under the exam conditions was the real test.

I didn’t receive an offer. My honest reflection was that the assessment didn’t reward “good enough” problem-solving—it really wanted full LeetCode-hard fluency across unfamiliar combinations.
