I opted out of the process early due to an alarming take-home assignment request, and it felt unethical and opaque.

Recruiter/early process — I was presented with a remote role pitch.
Take-home assignment step — They required code work with clauses restricting uploading (e.g., not publishing to GitHub) and implied they could reuse my work.
After assignment — I experienced a pattern of cold rejection without clear explanation. Outcome: I rejected the process; my takeaway is to be cautious with take-home assignments that come with restrictive clauses and unclear evaluation fairness.
