My process for Ciena felt longer and more stressful than the actual technical content, even though the rounds themselves were about DSA and Java/Spring fundamentals.

The first step was a HackerRank-style assessment with around 20–25 MCQs covering Java, Spring, and some networking topics.

Then I did a pen-and-paper test with three DSA questions of medium difficulty, where the first one was easy. Java code was preferred, and that detail mattered for how I approached the responses. The test portion was fine, but the overall interview experience didn’t match that calm tone.

There were three rounds of interviewing. The first interviewer was genuinely sweet and stayed on DSA and resume-based questions with a bit of chit-chat, which made it easier to think.
