CATERPILLAR Software Engineer interview experience

A lot of the questions were situational, and the flow felt fair and straightforward from my perspective.

They also included an interesting game that made the team dynamics visible, and it helped show how I worked with others in a less formal setting. During the interview itself, the focus stayed on how I’d handle situations and how I presented my thinking.

It felt like a friendly process overall, and I appreciated that it wasn’t trying to be overly hostile. I didn’t end up getting an offer, but I felt the evaluation was more about behavior and collaboration than tricky technical hurdles.
