I interviewed with the hiring manager first in a Zoom call.

It was about forty minutes and dug into my background and my experience, including the fact that I’m self-taught. The conversation was engaging both times, which made the process feel more like a discussion than an interrogation.

After that, I had a second Zoom meeting with the hiring manager and a senior engineer. This round was more technical and included a pair programming exercise. We worked through a small application with failing unit tests and focused on getting the tests passing.

The senior engineer was friendly and the whole session moved at a good pace. It didn’t feel like a trick
