My technical interview started with an awkward delay—around fifteen minutes late because the interviewer didn’t join on time.

Even though I’d confirmed my availability with HR, the interviewer also called me directly on my cell phone to kick things off, which made the beginning feel a little uncoordinated.

Once we started, the first question began as if it were system design, but then it drifted into algorithms. That shift threw me off because I wasn’t sure what level or framing they wanted until I probed with clarifying questions. I also got asked about my motivation to leave my current company, which didn’t feel technical and seemed more like something suited for an HR or hiring-manager discussion.
