I interviewed for a Software Engineer role in a short, recruiter-to-architecture path where compensation alignment became a key theme, and the experience ended without an offer.

Round 1 (virtual with senior dev) — I met a senior developer (around 7 years experience) virtually.
Round 2 (offline with architect + HR) — I then had an in-person round with an architect and HR.
Compensation conversation — HR indicated they could only offer a lower package tied to experience (even below what I was earning at the time), which set expectations early. Outcome: No offer; the main takeaway was that the process quickly narrowed based on salary feasibility rather than just interview performance.
