Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

In my interview, I worked on a suspicious-activity style problem where I had to output a set of activities and assign each one a similarity-based score.

The scoring rules were described with an example: if a new activity was directly similar to something already marked suspicious, it scored at the highest value, and otherwise the score increased depending on how closely it matched items already in a queue.

The approach I ended up using was based on a breadth-first search idea. I added the initially suspicious entries to a queue first, then repeatedly processed new activities to find similarities until the queue was empty. The core of the work was keeping the relationships straight and making sure the scoring aligned with the similarity
