Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I ran into a problem similar to something I’d seen discussed before, and I initially tried to lean on a stack-based solution that matched the approach from that earlier concept.

The follow-up question pushed me toward recursion, though, and I had to adjust how I was thinking.

I started on a cleaner recursive direction, but I got stuck for a while. Eventually the interviewer pointed me toward a more direct way to handle parentheses: find the corresponding indices for left and right parentheses, then use those indices to drive a recursive call. Even after that hint, I still hit a few minor bugs as I worked through the details. By the end, I wasn’t fully confident I’d pass, mostly because those small issues made me doubt my correctness.
