My main experience with Branch started with a sequence that mostly made sense technically: an HR conversation first with general questions, then interviews focused on the solution engineer role, including a call with an EMEA solution engineer lead where we covered what to watch for in projects and the kinds of issues I’d handled as an SE along with potential solutions.

I also had an interview with the head of department in the US that stayed aligned with the solution engineer responsibilities.

Then came a task involving the Branch iOS or Android SDK on GitHub. The technical work wasn’t my problem—the way the HR side handled communication was. A particularly frustrating part was that I later had to take a day off for an interview in Berlin, and I found out it had been scheduled only after the fact, with no notification beforehand. On top of that, they didn’t pay travel costs, which added to the sense that the process wasn’t valuing my time.
