Booking.com Software Engineer interview experience

The first round was an online coding exercise on HackerRank that included both frontend and backend/API work. The technical round then went back to the earlier coding question, asking me to explain what I did and then switching into a system design question. Finally, there was a manager round where the discussion wrapped up.

I found it challenging overall, and the difficulty was noted as difficult on my end. I didn’t end up getting an offer, but the structure made sense: they evaluated how I coded, how I reasoned about what I coded, and whether I could handle system design after that.
