My process felt genuinely hard from the start, even though the interviewer was friendly.

I went through three rounds total, and the difficulty ramped quickly into live coding. The main exercise was pretty specific: I had to reimplement pieces of popular utilities—one part like a “get” function from lodash and another part that involved finding the top-k most frequent elements.

Because the bar was high and it was live coding, I spent most of the time thinking through edge cases and correctness rather than just producing something that worked on the happy path. The overall environment still felt interactive, but it was tough enough that the friendliness didn’t make it less
