Balyasny Asset Management Software Engineer interview experience

Overall it was an okay experience. The last interviewer in particular seemed bored and uninterested, and that made the round feel awkward in the middle of the conversation.

The format was also different from what I expected: I didn’t have to write complete coding solutions end-to-end. Instead, I talked through my approach, sometimes with only partial code just to show my thinking, without necessarily getting to a finished answer.

I didn’t get an offer, but the process stayed mostly neutral—less about intense difficulty and more about the interpersonal energy of the final conversation.
