I went through what felt like a fairly standard multi-round interview—first with recruiters and then with team members.

The part that took the most time and effort was a presentation where I had to interpret data and build a deck.

I was told afterward that the team and manager were extremely impressed with what I put together. Still, I ended up getting a call later that they decided not to move forward.

I didn’t get an offer, and the end result made it feel like a waste of time even though the presentation went well. What surprised me was the mismatch between the enthusiasm I heard and the final decision.
