The process was extremely long, so long that it felt like I went through a ton of steps before it was over.

People were nice throughout, and it genuinely felt like things were trending toward an offer.

Then, after five interviews, I got a call saying they’d decided to go with someone else. There wasn’t any dramatic conflict in the communication, just the sense that the process had built up expectations it couldn’t fully deliver.

I didn’t get an offer. What I remember most was how anticlimactic the ending felt after investing that much time, even though there wasn’t much I could point to as a specific breakdown beyond the simple fact of being out-chosen.
