My first round was an OA where I had to write code from scratch on a blank screen.

The question was in C++ and centered on operating systems. It was one of those tasks where there wasn’t a template to lean on, and I realized quickly that I didn’t know exactly how to structure the solution.

Because it was all on a blank page with no scaffolding, it felt harder than a typical take-home style prompt. I ended up not moving forward, and the rejection made sense in hindsight, but the lack of guidance made it especially tough.
