I expected something straightforward and that’s how it ended up feeling, but I still ran into a snag.

The interview was online and involved screen sharing while I wrote programs based on what they asked. I was asked to write a prime number program, and I got through that part.

They also asked an SQL-based question, and that’s the one I couldn’t answer. So even though the process itself felt easy, the SQL gap was enough to hurt my chances.

I didn’t receive an offer. Looking back, it was surprising that the interview split so cleanly into programming I could handle and a SQL prompt that I wasn’t able to solve in the moment.
