I completed three online coding tests, and they were run through a proprietary web environment with an option to use SSH and GCC tools in a VM.

Each test focused on coding decisions, and during the tests I was asked questions that checked how I thought through the implementation rather than just submitting the final code.

The whole process stayed technical and interactive, with a reviewer present while I worked through the tasks. I didn’t receive an offer.

Even though it was challenging, it felt like the interview’s main goal was to see my reasoning in the moment, and I walked away knowing the gap was more about matching their expectation of how I should justify decisions than about syntax or raw coding ability.
