Apple Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Mar 2026 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My upcoming interview for a Software Engineer role focused heavily on system design and medium-hard data structures and algorithms.

From the feedback I received ahead of time, it was clear the technical bar wasn’t meant to be trivial coding-only practice.

I expected the conversation to move between designing systems and working through DSA problems that were more than just basic patterns. The main surprise was how upfront the role’s emphasis felt—so instead of waiting to figure out what mattered during the interview, I felt oriented from the start that system design thinking and solid mid-level algorithm work would be central.
