I interviewed for the Software Engineer role in a mostly HR-first flow (often two rounds) where the technical part focused on core Java and database basics without much emphasis on coding.

HR screen (phone) — A resume/background discussion, fit questions (why this role), and sometimes a quick overview of their program/training.
Technical interview (Skype or phone/technical recruiter) — Core Java/OOP concepts (interfaces/abstract classes, OOP basics) and SQL fundamentals (primary/foreign keys, joins); in one case spring was mentioned, but there was still no coding component.
Program/training framing — Multiple times I heard about how they would train or adjust expectations based on the role and timing, including scenarios where positions weren’t available
