I went through a coding exercise as part of the recruitment process where I had to write a program that reflected OOP concepts.

After I submitted my code for review, I felt the interviewers introduced something that didn’t match what I’d done—like a contradiction meant to unsettle me.

My reaction wasn’t subtle. I genuinely perceived it as a prank, and it made the experience feel awful rather than challenging in a productive way. Even though the rest of the process structure wasn’t described in detail, that moment colored everything for me.

I didn’t end up with an offer, and the hardest part wasn’t the programming itself—it was the feeling that the evaluation wasn’t being handled in good faith.
