American Express Software Engineer interview experience

Got offer

Medium

Positive

Phoenix, AZPosted Mar 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I had a single technical interview that lasted about an hour, with two LeetCode medium problems and some behavioral questions mixed in.

The behavioral portion wasn’t separate—it ran alongside the coding portion, so I had to keep switching between technical thinking and communication.

What helped was that the interviewers were open to clarifying questions and made the experience feel positive. The coding problems were the main focus, but I didn’t feel like I was being treated harshly or cornered.

I received an offer. My honest reflection is that the medium-level technical questions were manageable partly because the atmosphere stayed constructive throughout.
