American Express Software Engineer interview experience

Most of the conversation was about the job itself, and it went pretty deep into what the day-to-day actually looked like.

Even though it wasn’t a coding-heavy interview, it mattered because it clarified what I’d really be doing day to day—what kinds of tasks I’d own and how the role fit into the team’s workflow. The format made it feel like they were evaluating alignment as much as anything else.

I received an offer, and the biggest takeaway from the experience was that the conversation was specific enough to feel real, not vague or scripted.
