American Express Software Engineer interview experience

I started with a first campus placement round and it felt like a straight jump into coding without much room to settle in.

I had to work through two medium LeetCode-style questions. They weren’t brutal in theory, but they took real time, and I had to keep pushing through the problem-solving rather than breeze through it.

What surprised me was how much time the questions still demanded even though I’d seen similar problems before. I wasn’t completely caught off guard, but I still had to work through the solutions carefully, and by the end I felt like I’d earned the results rather than had them handed to me. Overall it ended with a difficult experience and I didn’t end up getting an offer.
