American Express Software Engineer interview experience

They asked about my projects and were especially interested in my machine learning and data analysis work. Then came the technical round where I was given coding problems grounded in data structures and algorithms, and I wrote solutions in C++.

What mattered most to me was how they evaluated my approach. They didn’t just want the correct output—they asked how I was thinking about optimizing solutions, and they connected that directly to my research experience, including questions about predictive models I’d worked on. After that, the behavioral portion focused on teamwork and leadership,
