Once I made it past the initial stage, my coding and interview loop felt fairly grounded, but still focused on the kind of reasoning that doesn’t let you hand-wave.

In one of the rounds, I was asked to design around a calendar search, then follow up with an improvement to the search approach. That was paired with leadership-principle style questions, including one that asked me about a time when I had to make a difficult decision immediately. I remember finding that prompt unusually hard to think through cleanly on the spot.

Across a different interview with a similar overall vibe, the structure was still simple: a design question where I had to choose appropriate data structures and optimize the search, followed by a handful of STAR-based leadership
