After a fairly simple start, I ended up in a friendly video or in-store conversation with a store manager.

The whole vibe was relaxed and I was given a chance to ask questions, but the conversation stayed structured enough that I always knew what they were looking for. We talked about the role and what I’d be doing day to day, and I also got into why I wanted the position and why I was leaving my current place. In a couple moments, the manager asked situational questions—how I’d handle an upset customer, or how I’d help someone pick out shoes for a special event—and I drew on times I’d gone above and beyond for customers and worked well in a team.

The process felt quick and low-pressure overall.
