Akamai Software Engineer interview experience

Posted May 2026 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I came in through a referral and waited a bit—around two weeks—before HR reached out and scheduled my interview for the same Friday.

The process felt fast once it started, but the technical bar was very focused on specific algorithmic problem types.

My first round had two main coding questions: grouping anagrams and finding the K-th largest element in an array. They were the kind of LeetCode-style prompts that you either recognize quickly or you spend the session reasoning your way through. The experience was essentially those questions in one interview round, and the rest of the loop didn’t show up in the details I saw beyond that scheduling and the first round.
