I had an interview scheduled for about 30 minutes that was meant to decide for an architect role.

What I found strange was that it essentially came down to one question: designing a service for sending notifications.

I couldn’t quite reconcile the scope with the time they claimed they needed, especially since I was already giving up time and had overtime to cover on my side. I did the best I could with the single prompt, but it left me doubting whether they truly needed such a narrow design exercise for the role. The whole thing felt mismatched, and it ended without me getting a clear path forward.
