I went into it expecting a simple retail conversation, but my experience felt off and a bit exhausting.

I applied and then started getting pushback and unpleasant energy around the hiring side of things, and it stayed stressful before and after the interview itself. Even when the role looked like something I could do, the process didn’t feel respectful or welcoming, and I ended up questioning whether I should’ve even bothered.

For me, communication around the fit and logistics also became a recurring theme. I’d hear from recruiters for locations that didn’t match what I’d applied for, and I had to decline until someone contacted me about a store that was actually close to where I could get to.
