Best Big Interview Alternatives for Technical and Data Roles (2026)

Eight Big Interview alternatives for SQL, data science, engineering and PM interviews, with pros, cons, pricing and who each one is best for.

Big Interview is a good tool for behavioral and general interview prep, and many universities give it to students for free. If your interview has SQL, coding, product sense or system design rounds, though, you'll need something more technical. Below are eight options I'd look at, including Dataford, the platform I run. I've tried to be straight about where each one is strong and where it falls short.

The table puts 8 options side by side on best for, roles and ai mock interviews, with price in the last column. DataLemur has at least one red cell, a column they don't cover. Dataford is the row built around one company and role, with loop guides, real questions, AI mocks and 1:1 coaching, at $29 a month or $89 a year. Read across your weakest round first, then check price.

For reference, Big Interview costs $39/month, $99 for 3 months or $299 lifetime.

01

Dataford

Dataford is company-specific technical interview prep for 80+ roles, with 51,000+ real interview questions and 86,000+ interview guides across 15,000+ companies. You pick the company and role you're interviewing for, like Data Engineer at Meta or Software Engineer at Amazon, then get the real questions, a guide to how that loop works, and AI mock interviews. Skill practice (SQL, Python, product sense) sits inside each company-role track.

01Pros: Built around specific company and role pairs, like Data Engineer at Meta or Software Engineer at Amazon; company-role guides explain each stage of the loop; covers the technical rounds in one place.
02Cons: Light on behavioral coaching; no resume or LinkedIn tools; I'm biased, so check the guides yourself.
03Best for: Anyone with a technical interview booked at a specific company.
04Price: $29/month (Quick Prep, cancel anytime) or $89/year billed annually (about $7.42/month); all plans include the same features.
051:1 coaching: 40+ coaches who currently work at companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, Databricks, Snowflake, Stripe and Netflix, each with a verified-employer badge, across data, engineering (including forward deployed and AI/ML), product and consulting roles. Sessions are 60-minute mock interviews or strategy calls, priced from about $109 to $339 per session (most are $139 to $209), with written feedback afterward. Sessions are anonymous (the coach sees your first name only, and nothing is recorded), and you can cancel free up to 24 hours before. Coaching launched on October 17, 2026 with 40+ coaches, and we expect to pass 500 in the next couple of months as we add a more human side to prep on Dataford. Every session runs inside Dataford itself, with no separate Zoom or Google Meet link, so booking, the mock and the feedback all sit in one place.
02

Interview Query

A long-running question bank and course platform for data science and analytics interviews.

01Pros: Deep data science question bank; company-tagged questions; well known in the data community.
02Cons: Focused on data roles, so less useful for PM or general SWE; one of the pricier options in this list.
03Best for: Data scientists and analysts who want lots of practice questions.
04Price: Monthly, yearly and lifetime plans; its FAQ lists lifetime access at $299. Check the pricing page for the current monthly rate.
03

DataLemur

An interactive SQL and analytics practice site from Nick Singh, co-author of Ace the Data Science Interview.

01Pros: Affordable; good SQL questions with hints; ties in with a well-known book.
02Cons: Narrower scope, mostly SQL plus some stats and ML; no full company-loop guides.
03Best for: Data analysts and anyone whose main gap is SQL.
04Price: $60/year or $300 for lifetime access plus a 1:1 coaching session and signed book. Monthly is $15.
04

StrataScratch

A large bank of SQL and Python coding questions taken from data interviews.

01Pros: Big question library; supports SQL and Python; questions tagged by company.
02Cons: Mostly coding practice; less on product sense, experimentation or interview structure.
03Best for: Data scientists and data engineers who want coding reps.
04Price: Free tier with 75+ questions; Premium is $24/month, $139/year or $289 lifetime, and includes AI mock interviews.
05

Aced (formerly Exponent)

Exponent rebranded as Aced. It's known for product management, software engineering and system design prep, with courses, videos and peer mock interviews.

01Pros: Strong PM and system design content; peer mock interviews; covers many tech roles.
02Cons: AI mock interviews are only on the top Expert plan; 1:1 coaching costs extra; refunds only within 5 days.
03Best for: Product managers and software engineers.
04Price: Free Basic plan with 5 peer mocks a month; Pro $79/month or $12/month billed yearly; Expert (adds AI mock interviews) $99/month or $20/month billed yearly.
06

IGotAnOffer

Free company interview guides plus paid 1:1 coaching with ex-interviewers.

01Pros: Detailed free guides; access to coaches from Big Tech companies.
02Cons: Coaching is priced per session and adds up; it's built around coaches, not a practice platform.
03Best for: People who want a human coach for a high-stakes loop.
04Price: Coaches charge 2 to 5 credits per 1-hour session, and credits cost $40 to $50 each, so roughly $100 to $250 per hour.
07

Final Round AI

An AI interview app with practice interviews across scenarios like coding, system design, product case and data/ML, plus automatic debriefs.

01Pros: Practice interviews in many formats; free plan to get started.
02Cons: Its main paid feature is a live "Interview CoPilot" that suggests answers during real interviews and is hidden from screen sharing. Many employers would consider that cheating, so check the rules before using it. Practice mode is the part I'd recommend.
03Best for: Extra mock interview practice across formats.
04Price: Free plan; Pro from $25/month.
08

DataInterview

Structured courses and a question bank for data, ML and quant roles, from Dan Lee.

01Pros: 20+ courses, 4,000+ questions and 700+ coding problems according to its pricing page; AI mock interviews on higher tiers; live classes available.
02Cons: The best features sit on higher tiers; focused on data and ML roles.
03Best for: Data scientists and ML engineers who like a course format.
04Price: $20/month billed $240/year (Course), $30/month billed $360/year (Course + AI), $60/month billed $720/year (Career Pro).
