Company Context

Meta is one of the largest digital advertising platforms globally, with a family of apps including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Threads, and a broad ads portfolio spanning Reels, Feed, Stories, Shops, click-to-message, and Advantage+ solutions. You are interviewing for an Account Executive role focused on helping mid-market advertisers grow on Meta. In this role, success depends not only on commercial performance, but also on how you translate Meta's operating principles into client strategy, internal prioritization, and cross-functional decision-making.

Strategic Situation

A regional direct-to-consumer retailer is considering shifting a larger share of its digital budget to Meta. The client currently spends across search, TikTok, and Meta, but believes Meta is underperforming because its campaigns are fragmented across Facebook Feed, Instagram Stories, and Reels, and it has not adopted newer automation products such as Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns or click-to-WhatsApp. Your hiring panel asks you to answer a strategy-oriented version of a common values question: rather than reciting Meta's values, show how understanding them would shape your go-to-market recommendation, client prioritization, and growth plan.

The goal is to assess whether you can connect Meta's values to practical commercial decisions: where to focus, how to move fast, how to use data, and how to build trust with advertisers while driving measurable growth.

Search ROAS3.1x
TikTok ROAS2.0x

Additional facts:

  • 70% of Meta spend is on prospecting; only 30% on retargeting/CRM audiences.
  • Creative refresh cycle is every 10 weeks, versus category best practice of 2-4 weeks.
  • The client has not implemented Conversions API and only partial pixel coverage.
  • Internal Meta support resources available are limited to one AE, one scaled solutions engineer, and shared creative strategy support.

Deliverables

  1. Identify the core Meta values most relevant to this situation and briefly define them in a business context.
  2. Show how those values would shape your account growth strategy for this advertiser over the next 12 months.
  3. Prioritize 3 strategic initiatives across Meta surfaces/products (for example, Reels, Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns, click-to-WhatsApp, Conversions API) and explain why.
  4. Estimate the upside if Meta increases share of wallet from 18% to 25%, including what performance improvement would be required to justify that shift.
  5. Explain how you would demonstrate these values personally in the AE role when working with the client and internal partners.

Constraints

  • Recommendation must show impact within 2 quarters.
  • Client is unwilling to increase total budget immediately; reallocation must come from existing channels.
  • Engineering support on the client side is limited, so implementation complexity matters.
  • You cannot assume perfect attribution or unlimited creative production capacity.
