How do you handle difficult people?
Explain how you approach a challenging interaction with a colleague, manager, client, or stakeholder while maintaining professionalism and progressing toward a productive outcome. Focus on a specific example, including what made the interaction difficult, how you adapted your communication, how you addressed the underlying issue, and what changed as a result. Interviewers are looking for evidence that you can listen without becoming defensive, set appropriate boundaries, and take ownership of your part in the relationship. A strong response uses STAR, distinguishes behavior from intent, and includes a measurable or observable outcome.
